Anyway Gang is a Canadian indie rock supergroup featuring Chris Murphy of Sloan, Dave Monks of Tokyo Police Club, Menno Versteeg of Hollerado and singer-songwriter Sam Roberts. “Last summer I got together with a few of my tour buds who also happen to be some of my favourite songwriters,” said Menno. “We mostly made dad jokes but we also jammed on a bunch of 3 chord songs we all had lying around. We recorded a bunch of stuff in a few days and over the year we’d add some ideas here and there and all of a sudden a year had passed and we realized we had kinda an album so we said let’s name ourselves the first thing we thought of and release these.”

The band’s motto is “three chord maximum” and their debut album will be out November 29 on Royal Mountain Records. The first single is the very catchy “Big Night” which has the members trading off lead vocals. The video for the song, directed by Martin MacPherson (who made PUP’s “Sibling Rivalry” video), is genuinely great, with two kids having an all-night sleepover where they play a SEGA-style Anyway Gang game. Why doesn’t this game exist? Watch the video below.

Meanwhile: Sloan will be touring their 1998 album Navy Blues all across North America soon; and Hollerado are on their farewell tour, calling it quits at the end of the year.
